Susquehanna University Speaker to Illuminate Life of Mark Twain

SELINSGROVE – Mark Twain fans will get a glimpse of his personal life when Candace Ridington presents “My Dear Little Gravity: A Visit With Livy Clemens” April 15 at 11 a.m. in Susquehanna University’s Degenstein Center Theater. Sponsored by the university’s Institute for Lifelong Learning, the talk will help attendees to discover, through the eyes of his wife, what it was like to live with author and humorist Samuel Clemens.
Ridington is a former instructor in the Susquehanna University English department. She earned a master’s degree in American literature from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is the author of “Rubicon: The Love Story of Emily Dickinson’s Brother, Austin, and Mabel Todd, the Woman Who Saved Emily’s Poetry.”

The talk, free and open to the public, will be followed by an optional lunch at noon. For lunch reservations or questions, call the Office of Conference and Event Management at 570-372-4354.

The Institute for Lifelong Learning hosts an annual series of lectures and luncheons that seek to promote fellowship and continued learning among seniors and others in the community and surrounding area.
