Conkright, Gargiulo named defenders of the week

ANNVILLE, Pa. — The Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference announced on Monday, March 23 that two Lycoming College lacrosse players were named defenders of the week. On the men’s side, Dan Conkright was the selection, while Danielle Gargiulo was selected for the second time this season.

Conkright (Spring City, Pa.) and the Warriors enjoyed a two-win week, including an 18-6 win over Susquehanna in defense of the Rumble on the River title and a 16-3 over conference opponent Alvernia. Against Susquehanna, Conkright caused four turnovers and picked up four groundballs, as well as scored a key goal to helped Lycoming to the win.

Gargiulo (Branchburg, N.J.) helped Lycoming to a 1-1 week, playing outstanding defense, earning eight caused turnovers, including six against Manhattanville. She was also key in a week in which the Warriors cleared the ball 28 out of 36 attempts. Gargiulo wrapped up the week with four ground balls.

Both the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will be back in action on Wednesday, March 25 when they travel to the greater Wilkes-Barre, Pa. area. The women play against Misericordia University at 4 p.m. while the men play under the lights at King’s College for a 7 p.m. game.
