Nance Van Winckel, a poet and fiction writer

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Nance Van Winckel, a poet and fiction writer, will present her work at Lycoming College on Thursday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Lindsay Welch Honors Hall. The event is free and open to the public.Van Winckel is the author of five books of poetry, including her latest release, “No Starling,” which was published by University of Washington Press in 2007. Her 1998 book, “After A Spell,” won the Washington State Governor’s Award for Poetry. Van Winckel also has written three books of short stories.

She has received two National Endowment for the Arts poetry fellowships, a Pushcart Prize, Poetry Magazine’s Friends of Literature Award and two Washington State Artist Trust Awards, among other honors.

This semester, Van Winckel is the Stadler Poet-in-Residence at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. She resides with her husband, visual artist Rik Nelson, in Spokane, Wash., and teaches master’s degree classes in creative writing at the University of Eastern Washington and the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
