Williamsport – A weekly film program featuring thematic series of classic, independent, foreign language and topical films. Showings will be on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons at 2 PM, in either the Lowry Theatre or the Arthouse Screening Room, our new venues on the 3rd floor of the Welch Wing at the James V. Brown Library. Offering state-of-the-art projection equipment and a comfortable environment, Market Street Matinees seeks to provide regularly scheduled free, enjoyable and thought provoking entertainment for individuals or groups.

Our inaugural series: “Reel Law”

Chosen from a law professor’s list of must see movies for law students, “Reel Law” celebrates outstanding courtroom drama and features some of the most powerful legal films made.

March 15 and 18
“Anatomy of a Murder,” starring James Stewart and directed by Otto Preminger

March 22 and 25
Billy Wilder’s “Witness for the Prosecution”

March 29 and April 1 – Honoring Women’s History Month
“Iron Jawed Angels,” spotlights the social and legal struggles of the women’s suffrage movement

April 5 and 8
The series concludes with Spencer Tracy and Frederick March recreating the Scopes “Monkey” trial in “Inherit the Wind”
