WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Lycoming College’s Milvana Ban has been named the “Warrior of the Week” for the week of Feb.16, after competing at the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.Ban started strong, earning a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:16.61 on day one (Friday, Feb. 13). On day two, she set a school record in the 400-yard IM, posting a second-place time of 4:47.23.

In the 200-yard backstroke on day three, Ban claimed gold in a time of 2:14.19

To go along with her individual performances, Ban was responsible for anchoring two relays. In the first relay on Friday, she was the final swimmer in the 400-yard medley relay, helping the group to a second-place finish with a time of 4:11.93, On Saturday, Ban helped lead the four-person squad to a third-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle, finishing in 8:28.64, cutting nearly seven seconds from its preliminary time. In the 400-yard freestyle relay on Sunday, Ban swam the final leg for a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:48.36.

Ban’s 54 individual points and 96 relay points helped lead the Lady Warriors to a third-place finish.

Lycoming’s sports information office will announce a Warrior Athlete of the Week throughout the 2008-09 academic year. The athlete will be featured on the homepage of the athletics Web site, http://www.lycoming.edu/athletics.
