WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Lycoming College’s Lamade Gymnasium will take on a new color scheme Saturday, Feb. 7 when the women’s basketball team sponsors a “Pink Zone” game to show its support of breast cancer research. The Lady Warriors will host Arcadia in a conference game with tipoff set for 1 p.m.

This is the third annual “Pink Zone” (formally known as “Think Pink”) sponsored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

There will be a pizza party after the game for the “Craziest Pink” group or organization that comes to the game wearing the most pink and making the most noise. So come down with your friends, fraternity, sorority, team or residence hall floor and make some noise against breast cancer. The winning group will also be presented with a trophy to keep until next year’s “Pink Zone” game.

In addition to the “Craziest Pink” competition, there will be pins, bracelets and cupcakes for sale, with all proceeds going towards breast cancer research.

The WBCA began the “Pink Zone”, formerly known as “Think Pink,” in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women’s basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, more than 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching more than 830,000 fans and raising in excess of $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
