Millionaires Crush Lancers 80-59

Williamsport, PA-You can throw records out the window when the Williamsport Millioniares and the Loyalsock Lancers meet. It’s a game for local bragging rights in the Williamsport area.

Tonight, the Millionaires secured the bragging rights by crushing the Lancers 80-59 before a SRO crowd at the Williamsport Area High School Gymnasium. The Millionaires are now 15-2 with a 7 game winning streak, while the Lancers fall to 14-2.

Jadiah Lynch led the Millionaires with 18 points. Sean Ruane broke out of a slump and added 12 points along with Dontahe Jordan. Antoine Ellison-Love led the Lancers with 19 points, while Issac Bittle added 12.

The Millionaires led from start to finish. They had a quick 5-0 lead before the Lancers knew what hit them on buckets by Jadiah Lynch and Isaiah Twine. Issac Bittle got the Lancers on the board with a bucket 2:43 into the game to make the score 5-2 in favor of the Millionaires. That was the closest the Lancers would get. The Millionaires stepped on the gas, and after the opening stanza, the Millionaires led 19-6. The Lancer Lunatics were definitely worried.

The Lancers would go on a 8-0 run in the second period to give a glimmer of hope to the Loyalsock contingent, but the Millionaires would go on a 10-0 run that lasted early into the third period. At halftime, the Millionaires were ahead 34-20. The Lancers still had a chance.

Unfortunately, it did not happen. The Millionaires would salt the game away in the third period by outscoring the Lancers 30-15. A 8-0 run early in the third along with another 8-0 run late in the period sealed the deal for the Millionaires. At the turn for home, the Millionaires led 64-35. The Lancers were in a state of shock.

The final period saw the Millionaires run on cruise control. The Lancers outscored the Millionaires 24-16, but it was too little too late. The biggest lead tonight for the Millionaires was 29 points at the end of the third period.

The Millionaire JV squad set the tone for tonight by crushing the Lancers 86-63. Five players were in double figures for the Millionaires led by Thomas Burk with 16. Travis Kerschner and Codie Engel each added 13, Tyree Kirkpatrick added 12, and Rafiq Taylor added 10. Tyler Bogaczyk led the Lancers with 19, and Ian Artist added 13.

The next game for the Millionaires will be their big rivalry game in Blair County at Altoona on Thursday, 2/4/09. Game times will be the same as usual.
