Lady Warriors suffer setback against Albright

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s basketball team suffered a 78-63 setback against Albright on Saturday, Jan. 24, in a Commonwealth Conference game at Lamade Gymnasium.

The Lions took the lead out of the gate and would never relinquish the advantage, leading wire-to-wire in the win.

Albright carried a 10 point lead into halftime, 36-26, but the Lady Warriors opened the second half with a 13-5 run to pull within two at 41-39 with 17:09 to play. From there, the Lions took off on a 16-2 to push the lead up to 16 points and put the game out of reach.

Lycoming was led by Alicia Engler (Williamsport, Pa.) with 17 points. Jessica Zerbee (Duncansville, Pa.) added 13 points and seven rebounds and Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) finished with 12 points.

Albright was led by Bre Dillon’s game-high 22 points. Charlotte Ciccone and Annie McMahon each finished with 17 points and Jessica McGinness added 11.

The Lions finished the game shooting 47.4 percent from the field to Lycoming’s 39.6 percent and out-rebounded the Lady Warriors 43-37.

The loss drops Lycoming to 11-4 overall and 2-3 in the Commonwealth Conference. Albright improves to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Messiah on Wednesday, Jan. 28, for a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game with the Falcons. The men’s game will follow at 8 p.m.
