Williamsport, PA-Any of the Williamsport fans that expected a repeat of Saturday’s 100 point effort tonight against the Crestwood Comets were sorely disappointed.

The Millionaires outscored the Comets 45-28 in the second half to beat the Comets 81-61 tonight at the Williamsport Area High School Gymnasium. The Millionaires are now 3-1, while the Comets suffer their first loss of the season and fall to 4-1.

Jadiah Lynch led 4 Millionaires in double figures with 18 points. Isaiah Twine added 16, Dontahe Jordan added 13, and Sean Ruane added 12. For the Comets, Mike Abramcheck led the way with 16 points. Adam Fazzini, who came into tonight’s game with 972 points needing 28 for 1000, added 15, and Josh Popowycz added 10.

The Millionaires opened the scoring with 3 quick points from Thomas James and Jadiah Lynch. With 7:24 left on the clock in the first period, whom among the Millionaire faithful would realize that the Millionaires would go as cold as the snowy weather outside Williamsport Area High School?

The Comets went on a 13-0 run in the first period shocking the Millionaire fans and holding the Millionaires scoreless for 4:37 before Keith Haynes went 1-2 at the foul line to end the long drought. The Comets would extend their lead to 11 points at 17-6 before the Millionaires would go on a 10-0 run that extended into the second period. After the opening stanza, the Comets led 17-14.

In the second period, both teams would fight back and forth with the lead. The Millionaires would take the lead for good late in the second period when Dontahe Jordan hit a shot with 41.0 seconds left. Another shot by Jordan at the halftime horn put the Millionaires up 36-33. What did the fans expect for the second half?

The second half saw the Millionaires break the game wide open. It was not as crazy as the Wyoming Valley West game, but tough pressing defense and shots falling in the second half that were not falling in the first half were the keys to victory. The biggest lead for the Millionaires was the final margin of 20 points.

In JV action, the Millionnaires mounted a ferocious comeback but could not overcome the Comets losing 68-57. Eric Jesikiewicz led the victorious Comets with 14 points, while Joey Pickett added 13, and Austin Howell added 11. For the Millionaires, Thomas Burk led the way with 18, and Codie Engel added 10.

The next game for the Millionaires is Thursday, 12/18/08, when they make the 1 1/2 hour trip to Wilkes-Barre to play Holy Redeemer. Game times are the same as usual.

Linescore of the game:

Crestwood: 17-16-13-15=61
