ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team outscored Skidmore College 47-29 in the second half en route to a 77-59 win on Saturday, Nov. 29, in the opening game of the Holliday Inn Tournament at the University of Rochester.With the score tied 30-30 at halftime, Lycoming opened the second half with a 14-1 run to take 44-31 lead with just over 15 minutes to play. Skidmore could not respond, only coming to within 10 points throughout the rest of the game.

Skidmore entered the game averaging nearly 90 points per game in its first three contests. Lycoming (3-1) managed to shut down the high-paced transition game of the Thoroughbreds, holding them to their lowest scoring output of the season.

The Warriors were paced by Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.), who posted his second-straight double-double performance. The senior forward finished with a season-high 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) finished with 21 points, including 16 second half points. He was a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line.

Will Kelly (Williamsport, Pa.) nearly posted his first double-double, finishing just shy with 16 points and eight rebounds. Mike Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa.) put in his best performance of the season, finishing the game with seven points and nine rebounds. Bradley played a season-high 23 minutes with Sye in foul trouble.

The Warriors held a dominating advantage in paint, finishing with 44 total rebounds to Skidmore’s 21 and scoring 34 points in the paint.

Lycoming turned 17 Thoroughbred turnovers into 31 points in the game, while Skidmore only managed 16 points off turnovers. The Warriors’ dominance in the paint was evidenced by 38 second-chance points.

Lycoming finished the game shooting 47.1 percent from the field (24-of-51) to Skidmore’s 36.5 percent (19-of-52). The Warriors made 25-of-29 free throws in the contest.

Lycoming will stay in Rochester on Saturday night and will face the University of Rochester on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m. That game will be broadcast on ESPN Radio (WLYC) via a free Web stream on the Lycoming athletics Web site.
