Lady Warriors win thriller over Misericordia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Allison Mock led all scorers with 23 points as the Lycoming College women’s basketball team hung on to defeat Misericordia University, 60-56, on Tuesday, Nov.25.

Lycoming (3-1) trailed by eight points with 12:27 left in the game before going on a 16-2 run to take a 51-45 lead with just over six minutes to go. The Lady Warriors increased the lead to eight points before Misericordia (1-2) scored five unanswered points to pull within two at 58-56 with 11 seconds left.

Alicia Engler (Williamsport, Pa.) connected on a pair of free throws with six seconds left to end the game and seal the four point win.

Mock (State College, Pa.) finished with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including five 3-pointers. Engler added 11 points and five assists. Andrea Cooper (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) finished with nine points and Rebecca Leid added seven.

Lacey DeGraw led the Cougars with 19 points and seven rebounds. Christine Marks added 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Lady Warriors shot a season-high 50 percent from the field (24-of-48), while Misericordia finished the game at 46.7 percent (21-of-45). The Cougars held a slight advantage in rebounds, pulling down 28 caroms to Lycoming’s 27.

The Lady Warriors managed 26 points in the paint, 27 points off turnovers and 16 bench points.

Lycoming will host Susquehanna on Tuesday, Dec.2, at 7 p.m. in Lamade Gymnasium.
