Lycoming swimming splits at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s swimming team defeated Susquehanna, 140-64, while the men’s team suffered a 114-84 loss on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

The Lady Warriors (3-1) won their third meet of the season, headlined by a triple-win performance from Stacy Flick (Easton, Pa.).

Flick earned the top spot in the 50- (26.17) and 100-yard freestyle (57.77) events and also claimed first-place honors in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.83). Her time in the 100-freestyle is the fastest on the team this season and is an automatic qualifier for the MAC Championships. She is already qualified in each of the other events.

Lycoming also got wins from Stephanie Conrad (Enola, Pa.) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.23), Meg Emery (Burke, Va.) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:40.32), Claire Zido (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:33.75) and Milvana Ban (Harrisburg, Pa.) in the 200-yard IM (2:24.87).

The Lady Warriors also claimed both relays. Conrad, Kirsten Snyder (Reading, Pa.), Jessie Gallagher (Cheltenham, Pa.) and Ban took the top spot in the 400-yard medley with a time of 4:23.50.

Conrad and Zido teamed with Melody Johnson (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Caroline LeHota (Bellefonte, Pa.) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.85.

The men’s team got one individual win and one relay win in the loss, evening their record to 2-2 for the season.

John Dougherty (Mountain Top, Pa.) was the lone winner for the Warriors, claiming the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 51.90 seconds. His time is a season-best and an improvement on his MAC automatic qualifier.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Chad Lemmons (Boiling Springs, Pa.), Brian Fausel (Burdett, N.Y.), Sean Berrier (Hughesville, Pa.) and Mark Fries (Waynesboro, Pa.) won the event with a time of 1:36.33.

Both teams will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 20, as Misericordia travels to Williamsport. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
