Montoursville – Here’s an update on the major improvements taking place along Route 15 between Trout Run and Buttonwood in northern Lycoming County.Trumbull Corp. (primary contractor) has accomplished the following work:

Along the existing northbound alignment between Steam Valley Road and the new Route 184 Interchange, the slope has been cut back to improve sight distance, the pavement has been widened for temporary traffic lane configurations, and the road has been resurfaced including the final wearing layer of blacktop.

The improved northbound alignment between Route 184 and Buttonwood includes two new box culverts and pavement, but does not include the final layer of blacktop.

The new Route 184 alignment from the western tie-in to Route 15 has been paved except for the final layer of blacktop.

The Route 15 northbound off/on ramps connecting to extended Route 184 and the new Route184 Bridge have been paved, except for the final layer of blacktop.

The single-span arch culvert that will carry future State Route 4011 between the new split interchange at Steam Valley and Green Mountain Roads has been substantially completed.

Three concrete box culverts under the future southbound alignment and ramps have been substantially completed.

Excavation continues adjacent to the northbound lanes toward constructing the Steam Valley Road portion of the future split interchange with Route 15 and Green Mountain Road.

Excavation continues (and will during 2009 and possibly 2010) along the western slope toward constructing the realigned southbound lanes between Route 184 and the ramps at Green Mountain Road.

Here are the traffic changes remaining in 2008:

On or about November 12, the contractor will open the new northbound lanes between Route 184 and Buttonwood.

On or about November 21, utilizing temporary crossovers at each end, the contractor will switch southbound Route 15 traffic to the northbound passing lane between Route 184 and Trout Run.

Also, on or about November 21, the contractor will open the northbound Route 15 off/on ramps to extended Route 184 and the new Route 184 Bridge.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for the changing traffic patterns over the next few weeks.
