PennDOT TO RESTRICT LEFT TURNS AT ROUTE 15 SCENIC OVERLOOK FOR SAFETY

MONTOURSVILLE – Within the next several days, PennDOT will be restricting southbound left turns into and out of the Route 15/Montgomery Pike scenic overlook in Armstrong Township, south of South Williamsport in Lycoming County, to enhance motorists’ safety. This restriction is a result of a joint safety review conducted by PennDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intended to improve travelling safety on this corridor. The goal is to curb traffic movements that could lead to serious crashes along that stretch of Route 15.

This no left turn restriction is part of an overall plan to increase safety there. Future plans are to add median barrier along portions of that area to physically restrict left turns.

Southbound motorists wishing to stop can still access the PennDOT-provided picnic area a bit farther south, on the southbound side of Route 15 in Clinton Township.
