Lycoming cross country teams compete at Nevins Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lycoming College cross country teams competed in their final tune-up before the MAC Championships when they traveled to the Nevins Invitational at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The men’s team placed seventh with 188 points.

Robert Holmes (Oxford, Mass.) led the Warriors with a 29th-place finish, posting a time of 18:28 over the 5,000-meter course. Following Holmes was Steven Brown (Lock Haven, Pa.) in 37th (18:44), Tim Aulett (Warminster, Pa.) in 38th (18:45), Scott Boyles (Williamsport, Pa.) in 45th (19:24) and R.J. Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa.) in 56th (20:54).

The women’s team placed eighth with 189 points.

Kari Smith (Corning, N.Y.) led the way with a 23rd-place finish, posting a time of 22:21 on the 5,000-meter course. Following Smith was Alex Rinaldi (Sellersville, Pa.) in 42nd (24:32), Holly Andrews (Plymouth Township, Pa.) in 48th (26:27), Gillian Robbins (Mt. Holly, N.J.) in 52nd (28:36) and Chelsea Holbert (Lackawaxen, Pa.) in 56th (33:40).

The Nevins Invitational is named after longtime ESU sports information director, Pete Nevins, who passed away in 2006.

The Lycoming cross country teams will travel to Elizabethtown next Saturday, Nov. 1, for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.
