Lycoming women’s swim team earns academic honor

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Lycoming College women’s swimming team earned 2007-08 Division III All-Academic honors from the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America after boasting the ninth-highest cumulative GPA in the country.

In order to be eligible for the All-Academic team honor, the cumulative GPA of all the women on the roster must be above 3.0. The Lady Warriors posted a cumulative mark of 3.47, just 0.12 points off the national leader, Mount Holyoke (3.59).

Ninth is the highest the team has ranked in the standings since first submitting for the recognition in 2004.

Lycoming led all Middle Atlantic Conference schools on the rankings. Misericordia was the only other school in the league to make the list, finishing with a mark of 3.30.

The team was led by three seniors with 4.0 GPAs.

The Lycoming men’s and women’s swimming teams will open the season with the Blue/Gold Intersquad meet on Oct. 11, at 4:30 p.m. The teams will officially open the season on Oct. 28, hosting Messiah at 7 p.m.
