Shipe nets two in big Lycoming conference win on the road

READING, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team recorded its first Commonwealth Conference win since 2006 with a 2-0 shutout against Albright on Saturday, Oct. 11, in Reading, Pa. Bekah Shipe scored both of the Lady Warriors goals in the win.

Lycoming (4-4-3, 1-0-1 Commonwealth) outshot Albright (6-6-0, 0-2-0 Commonwealth) 15-7 and held advantages of 6-2 in shots on goal and 4-3 in corner kicks.

Shipe, a native of Northumberland, Pa., scored the first goal of the game with an unassisted marker in the 26th minute and added an insurance goal in the 89th minute with another unassisted score.

Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J.) earned the win in goal for the Lady Warriors after recording four saves in the game.

The win was the first conference win for Lycoming since a 2-0 victory over King’s on Oct. 18, 2006.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Elizabethtown on Wednesday, Oct. 15, for a 4:30 p.m. Commonwealth match.
