Loyalsock Lancers stumble to Mount Carmel

View additional photos at cu.sungazette.com.The Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes did everything right in their 47-0 shutout over Loyalsock to stay undefeated – they out threw the Lancers, outran them and played better defense.

The Red Tornadoes shut down the Lancer passing attack by holding Shane Carey to just 23 passing yards. Carey only completed three 0f 13 passes and threw an interception. Carey had a string of six straight incompletions through the second and third quarters.

“We wanted to shut down Shane Carey and the passing attack,” Mount Carmel coach Mike Brennan said. “Paul Babinsky and the defensive staff did a great job. We were prepared for both (run and passing game).”

The Lancers stopped Mount Carmel’s initial drive on a fourth-and-six, but they weren’t able to capitalize. Mount Carmel then scored on its next six straight possessions, not being stopped until Loyalsock forced a punt with 4:57 remaining in the fourth quarter.  Full Story
