WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team picked up its second consecutive win and third shutout of the season on Saturday, Sept. 27, blanking Keystone College 4-0. Freshman forward Chris Burgess recorded a hat trick in the game, becoming the first Warrior this season to score three goals in a single effort.

Burgess (Bel Air, Md.), who started in his first game and scored his first collegiate goal in the last outing against Pitt-Bradford, wasted no time in attacking the net. He put the Warriors on the board in the second minute when he lofted a shot over the keeper’s head off an assist from Kevin Bishop (Lakewood, N.J.). Bishop picked up a point for the assist in his first collegiate start.

Less than two minutes later, Burgess added his second goal of the game when he took a pass from Mike Coates (Washington, N.J.) and beat the keeper in the fourth minute.

Burgess put home his third goal of the game in the 19th minute when he scored on a rebounded save from a Zach Frederick (West Chester, Pa.) shot.

Lycoming’s fourth and final goal came in the 53rd minute when Matt Frey tallied his third marker of the season off an assist from Chris Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md.).

Goalkeeper David Bald (Annapolis, Md.) was credited with the win and his third shutout of the season after registering two saves.

The Warriors dominated the possession, outshooting Keystone 32-5 and holding a 16-3 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at three for each team. The Giants were charged with nine fouls while Lycoming committed a season-low four fouls in the game.

The win improves the Warriors to 4-2-1 while dropping Keystone to 1-5-0.

Lycoming will travel to Juniata on Tuesday, Sept. 23, for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
