READING, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team notched its first win of the season with a dominating performance against Penn State-Berks on Thursday, Sept. 18. The Lady Warriors netted four goals in the first half and added three more in the second half to secure a 7-0 win.

Lycoming (1-3-2) got goals from five different players, including Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y.) and Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa.), who each recorded their first multiple goal game of the season.

Transfer Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa.) put the Lady Warriors on the board in the 21st minute off an assist from freshman Kelly Prendergast (Edison, N.J.). Shaner added another two more points to her game-total when she assisted both of Wingerden’s goals in the 25th and 26th minute.

Horn netted the first of her two scores in the 32nd minute off an assist from Victoria Michael (Hughesville, Pa.) and scored her second of the match in the 62nd minute off an assist from Bekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa.).

Shipe added a second assist when she helped freshman Megan Sarazin (Vershire, Vt.) score her first collegiate goal in the 67th minute.

Prendergast concluded the scoring when she put home the first goal of her collegiate career off an assist from Sarazin in the 88th minute.

Lycoming dominated every facet of the game, outshooting Berks 33-3 and holding a 20-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Lady Warriors were awarded 14 corner kicks to just one for Berks.

The Lady Warriors return home on Monday, Sept. 22, for a 4 p.m. matchup with cross-town rival Penn College.
