BILL PICKELNER AS I SAW HIM – Nellie and I were brand new in town. We had purchased a home out on West Central Avenue in South Williamsport. It was a great home for our family but we had a “bug” of some kind in the coal furnace.

December 2, 2008 LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES DATES FOR 2009 – The dates of the 2009 Little League world series have been announced. The tourney will open on Friday, August 21st and is scheduled to close on Sunday, August 30th. The games will be played on two stadiums (Volunteer/ Howard J. Lamade) in the International Little League complex in South Williamsport, Pa.

The championship games for the USA and International brackets will be played at Howard J. Lamade on Saturday, the 29th. The world’s championship game will be held on Sunday on the same field.

November 30, 2008 CINDY’S STORY – I really didn’t know her very well. She grew up with her family. She was the middle of three children so she sort of had to scrap for her space. Her older sister was a touch prettier and her brother was the big jock in school.

I guess we could identify her as the tom boy in the family, She, as we said, was a scrapper. She liked her life and filled it by being active. In class, in the hallways at school and in the sport programs.

November 24, 2008 – LITTLE LEAGUE IN OFF FIELD BUSY PERIOD – It is sort of odd when you think about it. Our focus on Little League comes to the top in August of every year when the world comes walking into our front door with its 16 teams ready to play in the Little league World Series.By the end of August the decisions have been made. The teams have gone on home with one of them being a world champion. We have recorded that fact and have already shifted our focus to something called football or soccer or whatever.  More…

November 20, 2008 – LYCOMING FOOTBALL RECOGNIZED BY THE MAC – The Cinderella Story continued Wednesday for the Lycoming College football team as eight players and head coach Mike Clark were issued awards by the Middle Atlantic Conference.  Players Nick Reese, Ted Geurd and Ryan Wagaman were all named first team All Conference for the 7-3 Warriors who edged out More…
